Royalton White Sands – Jamaica

In November 2018, my family and I travelled to the Royalton White Sands in Jamaica and here is my review!

The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from the Montego Bay airport. Our check in was pleasant however we took a private transfer from the airport so we arrived ahead of the bus load.We were offered refreshments while getting our bracelets that were also our room key.

We were booked into a Diamond Club Family Suite and were in room 701.Our room was superb with a private sleeping area for the kids with bunk beds, their own closet and television. The room was in good general condition with some expected wear. The bathroom was private and very spacious. We had a very large balcony with excellent ocean views. The other couple traveling with us were in a Diamond Club One Bedroom Suite which was also very spacious with a private bedroom and two bathrooms.

The resort is very compact and walkable with a lot of activity packed in.There is a children’s pool with several small slides and four large water slides. There is also a lazy river and several pools, one for adults only. We never felt that it was crowded and could always find seating although shade umbrellas are hard to come by.There is a kid’s club with daily activities and also a teen club. In the square there is a pool table, foosball table and chess/checker tables to enjoy. The entertainment team are always friendly and busy offering different activities day and night. The beaches are small but beautiful. There are vendors walking the beach but they are respectful and security is present.

There are eight restaurants with only one requiring reservations. The buffet was good quality with plenty of selection for everyone. Many evenings they would set up the buffet in outdoor locations which kept it interesting. We enjoyed each restaurant we visited during out stay. We especially enjoyed the ice cream shop!

The Diamond Club upgrade was definitely worth it. We were assigned our own butler during our stay who was very attentive to us, making sure we had everything we needed. It also allowed us access to a private lounge that always had snacks and drinks available while also offering check-in and check-out services.

The Royalton Blue Waters is also on the same property with open sharing privileges to both resorts. It should be noted that the new Planet Hollywood Hotel will be built next door.
