We experienced the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort with our 8-year-old grandson, between Aug 20 – 25, 2018. It was HOT and Humid during our stay, not a cloud in the sky and it rained only a few drops and quickly moved on. We were booked into a Royal Elite one Bedroom Suite. Beautiful room. The room has two full bathrooms with showers. Each bathroom was fully stocked with towels and dispensers containing body wash and shampoo. The bedroom had a King Bed and there was also a separate living area which had a Futon/Sleep area. Room had a digital safe, water dispenser, coffee maker and stocked mini fridge. Plus, there were lots of closets. We were on the ground floor, steps away from the Pool and Beach. Each day we would plan a new experience Monkeys, Iguanas, Deer Encounter, Cenote, Mangrove Path, Bird Sanctuary, Beach Walk, Aqua Park, where we were having dinner and which nightly performances to attend. No need to book an excursion. Your activities are all on site. Plus, motorized water activities that we did not look into.

Pool and Aqua Park – both areas have lots of room, shade and chairs available at all times during our stay. No need to run out and save a chair. BBQ with hotdogs and hamburgers set up around the pool and Aqua Park for a quick lunch. The Aqua Park also had ice cream, juice, pop and water. Waterslides for all ages. I even tried a waterslide. What a rush.

Great Service – Lobby Staff, Room Service, Maintenance, Wait Staff, and Pool side Service.

Grandson’s Review – Sandos was awesome, they have a water park and lots of restaurants that have really good desserts. They also have a pool, monkeys and Iguanas. I liked the entertainment and the Cenote.

This resort is perfect for families with younger children. Lot of activities for them and the Kids Club.

Strong Points

Our room was steps away from the Pool and Beach.

Buffet awesome choices.

A la cartes – La Toscana (Italian), El Templo (Asian Cuisine – Teppanyaki), and Los Lirios (Steak & Fish Club) great service, nice experience. All food amazing.

Loved having the room key attached to my wrist band. Locking yourself out of the room is almost impossible – unless you lost your wrist band.

Cenote was amazing – cool and refreshing. Grandson loved snorkeling and looking at the fish.

Theatre – Freddy Jackson and Super Hero shows are great. The kids love it. (O.K. I loved it) Comfy chairs, popcorn and drinks available right outside the theatre doors.

Weak Points

We where the only people on our shuttle for the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort so check in was a breeze. After check in, we were asked to meet with a resort rep who showed us a map and circled the places were where not allowed to go on the resort. Every confusing since the one of the places she circled on the map was the location of our room. After this she directed us to put our luggage in a line (the line is now full, since other guests have now arrived after us) We were asked to wait for a golf cart to take us to our room. After a long day of travel, no one wants to wait an extra hour to be escorted to their room. We questioned how long we would have to wait and we were asked if we were o.k. to walk to the room. We gathered our cases and were escorted to our room.

Store – extremely over priced. $ 20 USD for three bags of Chips. (confirmed this on the Sandos CE Resort Facebook Page)

Sitting area down by the beach for the “Arrival” Show on Tuesday night is small. After all the chairs are filled up the benches (this is where we where sitting) are falling apart and are not even. Very uncomfortable. SHOW was great, but I could not wait until it was over.

Lobby/Lounge area is dark, not cheerful.

Beach – is not nice, rocky and lots of murky looking areas, we did not get to enjoy the ocean.
