Ocean Vista Azul Varadero Resort – 4.5 star

Great resort for multi-generation group and travellers looking for Sun, Sand, Activities through out the day. Easy access to excursions to La Habana, Varadero for the Market and Beatles Bar, Swim with Dolphins, Jeep Safari and Snorkeling. Resort was mostly travellers in their 30s with very few children and teenagers (during this time of year).

We experienced the Ocean Vista Azul in April 2019 as a Wedding Group of 26. The weather was beautiful with days of 30+ and one day of rain with a thunderstorm. I booked into a Deluxe Room with Pool View on the ground floor. All guest excluding the Bride and Groom were booked into the same block. The Bride and Groom were upgraded to a beautiful Deluxe Ocean Front Room. Our rooms were centrally in located in Block #3 with a 5-minute walk to the lobby, pool, buffet and the a la carte restaurants. The resort hosts a block of rooms above the restaurant that are accessible with an elevator.

The resort is laid out in a horseshoe shape with Blocks 2 – 7 around the main pool with the accessible rooms located in Block 8 over the restaurants. Ocean view rooms 1 a-p are long the coast and are nicely spaced for accessibility and privacy. You can have an ocean view and be close to all of the amenities or an ocean view further down with privacy.

The lobby bar has comfortable seating and nightly entertainment. Infinity pool is located outside the back of the lobby. This pool has an amazing view of the ocean. Main pool located in the middle of the resort has daily entertainment, music, Snack and Pool bar on one side and a quiet section on the other side. Coffee Bar (11) by the restaurants is a nice place to grab a snack between meals. There is a 24-hour Snack Bar (9) down by the ocean that you can get a hamburger, hotdog or ham and cheese sandwich with fries after the restaurants are closed. I preferred the Coffee Bar for a quick snack. The 24-hour Snack Bar is the Disco at night. The wedding dinner and dance was held at the 24-hr snack bar. Nicely decorated and the party had their own music for the night.

PoolsMain swimming pool with a swim up bar is in the middle of the resort and is busy. The quieter section of pool is on the other side. Swallow areas for children are located on the end.

Infinity Pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea – with an exclusive section for Privilege bookings.

Beach – Nice beach – two sections to the left and right of the hotel. Beach to the left is closer to the beach restaurant. The beach on the right is accessible by stairs.

Service – slow Lobby bar Staff, Room cleaning – Excellent, Maintenance - Amazing, Wait Staff - Amazing and Pool side Service – Excellent.

Food – Great the best selection of food choices. Fresh fruit, pears, yogurt, jams, juices, breads at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants were amazing.

Strong Points – Rooms, Pools, Beach and the Food.

Loved – Our Excursion to La Habana. We hired a private van and had full control over where we stopped and how long we staid. Our Tour guide and driver selected the restaurant for lunch and it was amazing. We also took the Hop on Hop off bus to a local flea market. Enjoying the old cars travelling down the street and treated ourselves at Casa de Chocolate.

Weak Points – Hop on hop off bus did not stop at our resort on our way home and it was a long walk back to the resort after a day of shopping in Varadero.
