Mandatory vaccination for air train travel to become effective in Canada at the end of October

All travellers in Canada must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of October to board a plane, train or marine vessel, the newly elected Liberal government announced on Wednesday October 6.

The new mandate takes effect at the end of October. Trudeau said that there will be an interim period to allow for travellers who have started the vaccination process, to show proof of a negative test.

However, by the end of November proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will be mandatory and testing “will no longer be an option,” said Trudeau in a media briefing earlier today.

“If you’re planning on getting on a plane or a train in the coming weeks or months, make sure that you and all members of your family over 12 years old have gotten vaccinated and are getting your second shot if you haven’t already, because you will not be able to travel on a plane or a train in Canada if you are not fully vaccinated.” said Trudeau.
