Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort, Ocho Rios, Jamaica

The following is a brief review from my recent trip to the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort in Ocho Rios.

One of the good things about Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort is that it’s smaller. Only 250 rooms and when I went it was at full capacity and didn’t feel like it was even half full! There were always chairs available either on the beach or by the
pool so that’s good for clients that don’t like to wake up early to save a chair. The beach was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. There was a fence at the end of the right side of the beach to keep the locals out and the left side of the beach was a pier and that blocked you from going to the Riu Ocho Rios. They had people into the resort every day to sell their crafts which was nice because you didn’t have to leave the resort if you wanted to buy something from Jamaica and they of course had a gift shop. The food was really good and I found they had a good variety in the buffet and at the a la carte’s. You only had to make reservations for the Jade a la carte restaurant which is a teppanyaki style a la carte, the other two you could just walk in and they will seat you fairly quickly. (We never had to wait to be seated) The grill by the pool was open from 11am to 7am so for anyone who wants to be able to eat all day/night you can find something here. The pizza in the stone oven was amazing! We had one most days for lunch. They also have a little café where you can get coffee tea and smoothies. If you have elderly clients or people with mobility issues I would recommend the Diamond rooms only because the bathrooms are bigger. I stayed in the Lanai section which is the two story bungalows and to close to door in the bathroom you had to squeeze past the toilet (which is directly beside the tub) and then suck in to get the door closed around you. This isn’t ideal for a lot of people so the Diamond section has much bigger rooms and bathrooms.
All in all I really liked the resort and it is within close proximity to Dunn’s River, Dolphin Cove, Snorkeling and more.
