Wow! Disney has their technology all figured out. This is the first time I have travelled where I found the APP to be a useful tool, and the wrist band “Magic Band”, a necessary fashion accessory. Let’s start with the Magic band. If you live in Canada, you cannot get your Magic band in advance.

You must pick it up at the front desk when you check into your Disney Hotel or Resort. It will be waiting for you if, before you leave home, you have already gone onto the Disney website, created an account and ordered your Magic band in the colour you desire with your name on it.

The Magic band unlocks your hotel room door; permits your entrance in the Theme Parks; and is your fast pass to the Rides and Attractions. I wish I could have one for my house and car, I’d never lock myself out again.


What’s a Fast Pass you ask? It is your VIP, Jump the Line, I’m better than everyone else, pass to fun! When you purchase your “Magic Your Way” tickets, and register on the website, you get fast passes. On the website you can pre-register for any experience in any park. When you arrive on time, you simply go to the shorter “Fast Pass” line and scan your Magic Band. The APP, downloaded on your phone, works in conjunction with the Fast Passes. You can order an experience on your phone, and arrive five minutes later, and get right into the short line to get in. Let me give you an example. We arrived late and missed our African Safari Boat Cruise. We were on time for the Pirates of the Caribbean Experience. Both experiences were booked in advance on the website. We finished with the Pirates, sat down on a bench, looked up the African Safari Cruise, discovered it started again in ten minutes. Booked it on the APP, walked over and got in the short Fast Pass line. How cool was that? The APP does so much more. It will help you find Mickey Mouse; make your dinner reservations; book your roller coaster ride; purchase your Mickey Mouse Ears; and help you find your way home.
