My First Visit to Disney World in 40 Years

We’re off to Disney. I’m excited. I’m over 50 years old, and I know I should be mature about the whole thing, but I can’t help it.

I’m excited to be going to Disney for the first time in 40 years. My childhood memories are so faded, and I’m hoping they will come rushing back as soon as we get there. I have one memory of singing bears. I can’t quite recall any details, but I remember singing bears with guitars.

On our second day, I see them, the Country Bear Jamboree. Between Liberty Square and Frontier land, in Magic Kingdom. It all comes flooding back and I want to cry with joy. I grab my husband and say, “You have got to see this.” They play old fashioned Country music with fiddles and moonshine jigs. It was hilarious.

That’s the great thing about Disney. No matter how old you are, where you come from, or how often you go, there is something for everyone. From the very young who want to see Cinderella and ride on the back of Jumbo, to the very old who love the glamour of 1920’s Hollywood Studios, or the Barbershop singers on Main Street. You can’t help but get caught up in the excitement!
